- Intend to pursue a full-time, in-person PhD in the applied physical and biological sciences, mathematics or engineering at an institution in the United States
- Intend to direct their studies toward understanding and solving major, near-term problems facing society
- Must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States
Description
The Hertz Fellowship awards up to five years of funding, valued at up to $250,000, to graduate students pursuing a PhD in the applied physical and biological sciences, mathematics, or engineering. The fellowship supports students who intend to direct their studies toward understanding and solving major, near-term problems facing society. The fellowship includes a non-binding moral commitment to make skills available to the United States in times of national emergency.
