- Children born in California on or after July 1, 2022
- Public school students enrolled in grades 1-12 during the 2021-2022 academic year
- Public school students enrolled in the 1st grade during the 2022-2023 academic year and every school year thereafter
- Must be identified as English Learner or low-income by the Local Control Funding Formula
- Must be reported to the California Department of Education
Description
The CalKIDS Scholarship is a children's development account program administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, providing eligible participants with scholarship accounts, including seed deposits and other potential incentives, to help pay for future qualified higher education expenses. All children born in California on or after July 1, 2022, have a CalKIDS Scholarship waiting for them. Additionally, certain public school students in California may be eligible for a CalKIDS Scholarship based on specific criteria.
